As new immigrants in the US, we had wanted to visit landmarks that evoked certain images of prosperity, and success according to my dad who took us there. It was my grandfather’s first visit to the US ever and he was absolutely amazed. I still remember the look on his face, and the feeling I had with my brothers there of basic amazement and wonder.
