I was a New Yorker but never went to the firework display live until that year. It’s the only photo I have with the World Trade Center in the background. It was from Brooklyn Heights, July 4, 1999.
I distinctly remember a guy going around selling stuff for the event repeatedly saying „Smiling Faces, Alien Heads… Smiling Faces, Alien Heads.“ I guess those were items/souvenirs/paraphernalia he was selling.
Very surreal that in 26.5 months, those buildings were gone.
