Before the towers fell, Manhattan was a fine backdrop for merriment.

I grew very accustomed to the WTC over the years, and it was a real blow to see them destroyed — even more so when people you knew perished. One can hope that true, natural justice will be done one day. In the meantime, the towers will live on in our memory.
